Anglin Lake/PANP Snowshoe
Details
This is my favourite snowshoe hike in the province. I'm hoping that with cooler weather and more snow in the forecast, the Anglin Lake/Spruce River Highlands Trails will still be okay for snowshoeing in a week and half. Stay tuned on the Friday before as I will know more about the condition of the snowshoe trails and the weather forecast.
My plan is to go up to the Tower Cabin from Anglin Bridge to look at the view, cross over to the Spruce River Highlands loop, and return to the trailhead via the Tower Trail - for a total of about 14 kms. There are a lot of hills to climb so this snowshoe is a bit rigorous. The Tower Cabin is open and could be a warm up/lunch spot.
Meet at Tim Hortons in Lawson Heights Mall at 8 a.m. to organize carpooling to the trailhead, about 2 1/2 hours away. Bring a lunch, snacks, water and a hot drink. Dress for the weather which is forecast. A Provincial Park pass is required to park at the Anglin Bridge trailhead and can be purchased online at Passes - Saskatchewan Provincial Parks
Snowshoes can be rented at Outter Limits on Broadway - you will need to pick them up the day before. Snowshoes are necessary because of the icy trails and steep hills. Trekking poles with baskets on the end would also be helpful but not essential.
You will need to pay your driver and also the $10 annual meetup fee if you have not already paid this year, via e-transfer to eneudorf@hotmail.com.
