Hiking season's just around the corner so it's time to get our mind shifted towards spring and summer!

We will begin with a walk along the top of the river on the flats, before heading down and hiking on the trails along the river. This second section may be slippery section, as it's tree-covered and the sun doesn't penetrate sufficiently to melt the ice. We will aim to cover around 10-12kms.

Every year we have at least 1 person that falls on this hike, due to the icy trails. Therefore, in addition to good hiking boots/shoes, you will need either yaktraks (see info link below) or hiking poles. If you can afford both, even better!

At roughly the halfway point we will stop for a quick break. Bring a snack and at least 1L water to stay hydrated.

Dress according to weather. Mountain Warehouse is a new store in the city that offers good hiking gear at affordable prices. Other store are Escape Sports, Eb's Adventures, and Outter Limits.

After the hike we will go to the Berry Barn for a late lunch.

As a courtesy to others, please...

  • show up if you sign up
  • take yourself off the "go" list if your plans change and you can't go

If you have not paid the $10 annual fee for 2026, please e-transfer to eneudorf@hotmail.com before the hike.

Regarding yaktraks traction devices, see link: https://www.yaktrax.com)
