March 2nd: Our friend Wayne White from Detroit will be visiting Utah before heading to Las Vegas. Wayne is an accomplished musician who plays guitar, keyboards, percussion and flute. He has toured nationally and internationally accompanying several Motown, Blues and Jazz artists including The Commodores, The Spinners, Chico DeBarge, Larry McCray, Norman Brown, Ronnie Laws and Shanice Wilson.
Wayne attended Eastern Michigan University where he started out majoring in Classical Guitar. He graduated with a BS degree in Social Work and a minor in Sociology. As well as being a musician extraordinaire, he is a Licensed Social Worker, specializing in Behavioral and Mental Health.
Throughout his career as both an Entertainer and Social Worker he had combined his skills to assist people with their personal struggles as well as bringing people together to unite and enjoy each other's company, sharing their stories and talents in positive setting.
In this spirit, Wayne will be hosting a Talent Revue and Variety Show for our community. This will be an opportunity for amateurs and professionals of all ages to share their talents and/or then be an attentive audience.
If you want to actively participate, please sign up by texting Jack at 801.898.6023 with your talent of choice such as to: tell a story; read poetry; do standup comedy; perform an interpretive dance, play the piano, or sing a song or two. We have a piano, and sound system, bring your own other instrument, and let us know if you want Wayne to accompany you on the piano.
To begin the evening, Wayne will accompany his friend and our local Salt Lake treasure and resident Jazz Vocalist, Linnea Ross-Leibow. Linnea is currently performing at local venues in Utah. Linnea and Wayne performed in Los Angeles, California at several Jazz Clubs including BB King’s House of Blues between 2005 and 2010.
Donations will be accepted to help facilitate Wayne’s plane ticket.
