Beginner friendly kayak paddle. Kayaking a new part of the creek this year. Experience new waters! Navigate the serene waters of the Powhatan Creek cypress swamp, immersing yourself in the beauty of flourishing plants and diverse bird species, concluding your adventure with a refreshing stop at a nearby brewery – Billsburg Brewery.
This is a public tour. It is also available as a private customizable group tour for up to 16 people. Email info@TheNatureBus.com to arrange a tour for your group.

(Rain date is Sun. Sept 7) Before purchasing your ticket, be sure you can go on the actual tour date and the rain date. This rain date is an alternate tour date, reserved for “severe” weather and lightning. The trip ordinarily goes rain or shine. We provide umbrellas.
TIME: 8:30 am – 4:00 pm (7.5 hour tour)
PRICE: $65/person + $10 kayak rental + 2.6% credit card fee = $76.69
Action required: You have a choice of a kayak or tandem kayak (reserve your preference via text 757-288-9595). Include your first + last name, tour title + date. If tandem, give both names together.

DEPARTURE LOCATION: REI 350 Independence Blvd, Virginia Beach, VA (Private groups can choose the pick-up location.
DESCRIPTION: Join the unforgettable journey aboard The Nature Bus led by the renowned James Abbott, an award-winning birding guide! As we travel for an hour to our destination, James River/Powhatan Creek, James will entertain and educate. Setting off from JCC Marina, we’ll leisurely navigate the marshlands of Powhatan Creek, progressing through the enchanting tight cypress swamp, where your guides will identify blooming plants and various bird species. This approximately 2+ hour “easy” paddle allows for frequent stops for naturalist commentary, following the tide for a smoother journey. Concluding our expedition, we’ll make a stop at Billsburg Brewery for refreshing drinks and a delightful outdoor lunch (several food trucks or pack your own picnic).
