(Rain date is Sunday, September 21) Before purchasing your ticket, be sure you can go on the actual tour date and the rain date. This rain date is an alternate tour date, reserved for “severe” weather and lightning. The trip ordinarily goes rain or shine. We provide umbrellas.
TIME: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm (6 hour tour)
PRICE: $90/person + 2.6% credit card service fee = $92.34 total (this fee includes the $40/person boat fee)

DEPARTURE LOCATION: REI 350 Independence Blvd, Virginia Beach, VA (Private groups can choose the pick-up location.
DESCRIPTION: Join The Nature Bus for a one-of-a-kind environmental education experience—aboard the Longview, a 50-foot Chesapeake deadrise vessel, captained by award-winning naturalist James Abbott. This immersive two-hour eco-cruise will take you where the James River meets the Chesapeake Bay, offering unforgettable views of iconic landmarks like Fort Monroe, the Old Point Comfort Lighthouse, the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel, and the Norfolk Navy Yard. You’ll glide past Fort Wool, home to a vibrant waterbird nesting colony, and—if luck is on our side—spot bottlenose dolphins along the way! Onboard, educators from the James River Association will deploy a trawl net and bring up live specimens, giving you a hands-on look at the fascinating aquatic life beneath the surface. We launch from The Docks @ Downtown Hampton, and after the cruise, enjoy a relaxing dockside lunch at Bull Island Brewery, just steps from where we disembark. Restrooms are available at the marina’s Maritime Center.
