Carpenter Peak Roxborough State Park

I'm hoping this 6.3-mile out-and-back trail at Roxborough State Park will be a bit off the beaten path to avoid the weekend leaf peepers! We, on the other hand, will get up close and personal with the early fall foliage. We will get an early start and hit the trail at 0800. Generally considered a moderately challenging to strenuous route, it takes an average of 3 to 3.5 hours to complete depending on your fitness level. This is a very popular area for hiking, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. You'll need to leave pups at home — dogs aren't allowed on this trail. This is a state park so there is a 10.00 entrance fee unless you have an annual pass.

Meet in front of the entrance to the visitor center at 0745. Hike starts at 0800. This is a pretty hike. A good workout with 1000' of elevation gain. It's a butt-buster!
