Ho ho ho, it’s December! So gather 'round, lore-abiders, and bring your coats, scarves, partridges, pear trees and thinking caps, for it’s the SMFC Christmas puzzle trail!

Do you know how to avoid getting eaten by the Icelandic Yule Cat?

Which red fruit is gifted to bring prosperity on Christmas Eve in China?

Why does a classic Mexican Christmas pinata have seven spikes?

And which lucky Ukrainian bug should you hope to find in your tree?

Christmas is celebrated in many countries the world over, but in VERY different fashions! We will be learning some of the Christmas folklore of many different countries, from stories, decorations and food to beloved (and feared) characters and traditions.

And it’s important that you learn well, for our progress along the trail will depend on your newfound knowledge to solve enough puzzles to get us to our final destination…

(But don’t worry, it’s a team effort so nobody will be singled out for the Krampus!)

We will be meeting in central London as dusk falls in order to properly enjoy the festive atmosphere and we will be stopping along the way for refreshments so bring cash or card if you’d like to partake. The event will go ahead regardless of weather so do make sure you bring waterproof clothes and comfortable footwear. Depending on preferences on the day, there is the option for drinks and more chat afterwards.

Location details will be confirmed closer to the time so do check back lest you get left off Santa’s list!

(This is a free event, so we ask that you please keep RSVPs updated to ensure that as many people as possible who want to come are able to. Cancellations with less than three days’ notice may be removed from the group to prevent wasted spaces in future. Please note that we will not be able to be responsible for you should you overimbibe so if you consume alcohol, please do so responsibly!)
