London's 40th New Year's Day Parade
Details
If you’re bored of spending New Year’s Day hungover, groaning in bed, tired and feeling like the year is already a drag: shake off those post-Christmas blues and join us for the 40th annual New Year’s Day London Parade!
Starting early afternoon, the American-style parade will take to the streets of Westminster as one of the world’s biggest New Year celebrations.
Expect a town crier, music, dance, giant balloons, marching bands, carnaval performers, stunt displays, heritage vehicles, floats, and those icons of American folklore, cheerleaders!
With over half a million spectators and 8000 performers expected along the 2.2 mile route, not to mention being broadcast to around 100 million viewers in the USA, it is likely to be one of the most energetic and spectacular traditions of the year.
We will meet slightly early to scope out a good spot, so feel free to come with a hot drink to keep warm!
Exact meeting spot to be confirmed closer to the time, and depending on interest on the day, we have the potential for drinks/food and chat somewhere afterwards, so please bring cash or card. Please also bring water to stay hydrated during the parade and snacks if you’d like them.
(This is a free event, so we ask that you please keep RSVPs updated to ensure that as many people as possible who want to come with the group are able to. Cancellations with less than three days’ notice may be removed from the group to prevent wasted spaces in future.)
