When you have to do something in Excel once, then you have to do it yourself.

If you have to do the same thing again the computer should do it for you. That's what computers are good at doing - the boring, repetitive stuff.
You can learn simple automation with ease with Tips & Tricks for understanding Macros (and a taste of VBA to give you a glimpse of your possible future).

You don't need any programming experience to use Macros, and they are not some magical secret that only others can do.
If you want to start making your computer do the work then this one's for you.

About the Speaker

Oakley is a Corporate Trainer and Owner of Academy Training Solutions based in Surrey, UK.

He has been involved with training most of his adult life, including a time in the British Army doing a variety of training jobs with them (including as a Mountain Expedition Leader). On leaving the army in 1998, he trained as an actor (as all trainers should) and was involved in educational theatre for 5 years after drama school.

After working as a Freelance Trainer (specialising in Adobe, AutoCAD and Mapping Software) for some 6 years, in Jan 2013 he started Academy Training Solutions and this led to having to go from not really using Excel, to being a Microsoft Certified Trainer and Microsoft Office Specialist Master Instructor later that same year.

In 2015 he started teaching himself VBA for Excel in order to train this to customers, and this blossomed into a passion. Now only a few years later when asked what percentage of Worksheets he produces for consultancy jobs contain VBA, the answer is close to 100%. Unless there is a compelling reason NOT to do so then VBA makes it better.

Oakley lives on the south coast of the UK, overlooking Portsmouth Harbour. He lives alone but has been in a relationship with his partner for over 8 years now. She works for the UN and is based overseas. They both dream of retiring and living somewhere peaceful away from it all.
