" I've never seen a stupid kid; I've seen a kid who sometimes did things I didn't understand or things in ways I hadn't planned."~Marshall Rosenberg.
The first component of NVC teaches the separation of observation and evaluation. When we combine observation with evaluation, others are likely to hear our words as judgments and criticism. Instead of motivating, our evaluations can lead to shame, resistance, and resentment. We grow further away instead of closer together. Please join me in practicing speaking for your values in a way that returns us to self-responsibility and increases our chances of connection and cooperation.
