Abstract
People are afraid of CT as if it were Donald Trump. I'll try to explain the notions of category, functor, product, coproduct, pullback, and, probably, Monad, focusing on Scala and SQL examples. Math is easier to grasp if applied to real life.
Bio
Vlad Patryshev is an Engineer at H2O, and a professor at Santa Clara University, and an organizer of meetups. Categorist since about 19 yo, a toposopher, but mostly a programmer actually.
