I debated whether to announce this on the list or not, but since I occasionally get consulting pings from people on the PHASE list, it’s probably worth it.

As of March 18, I am a full-time employee with Databricks (the Apache Spark people). My official title is Senior Instructor, and I’ll be doing training and curriculum development initially. I may also end up doing some client consulting on Spark, but we’ll see where that goes.

My company (ArdenTex) still exists, since it represents my fallback position, but I will be applying all my dubious talents and excessive working hours to Databricks for the foreseeable future.

I’m staying in the Philly area, though, so I will continue to be the founding and primary organizer of PHASE, and I will continue to participate in and, occasionally, speak at our meetings. Relocation to the west coast simply isn’t an option for me, so you’re still stuck with me.
