Talks
Refined newtypes in Scala 3 with Neotype and Iron - Edvin Lundberg
Neotype offers elegant solutions for zero-cost type wrappers, while Iron provides a composable validation framework that takes advantage of Scala 3's new features. This talk will dive into how these libraries leverage Scala 3's capabilities to provide elegant solutions for creating type-safe wrappers and building robust validation pipelines, with practical examples you can apply in your own projects.
About the speaker
Edvin has spent five years at Rocker composing Scala solutions after escaping the procedural dungeons of T-SQL programming.
Doobie: Skunk-inspired approach to transaction handling - Daniil Chalov
Doobie is a widely used purely functional JDBC wraper for Scala. We'll explore how to set up a cats.Resource based transaction management with Doobie, similar to the approach taken by Skunk.
About the speaker
Daniil is a Scala software engineer at Evolution with 7 years of experience in JVM-based backend development, including 3 years focused on the Typelevel ecosystem. At Evolution, he develops high-throughput distributed systems that enables rapid game server development cycle.
Food
Beverages and some light food will be served at the event; when you RSVP to the event you will be asked for allergies or food preferences.
