Developer advocates from Quantcast and Aerospike will discuss how to address today's toughest real-time data challenges. Aerospike will explain why efficiency and scalability are the holy grail of today's software development - and Quantcast will give real world examples from one of the highest performance AdTech platforms in the world.

Talk 1: Quantcast: Aerospike beyond a large real-time feature store by Cristian Nicola
We start with a short trip on the history of how Aerospike has been adopted in Quantcast, looking at the usage evolution over the past 3 years up to present.
We will cover the migration from Salt to Ansible, the decision to upgrade the instance types and the server version at the same time and some of the pain & pitfalls encountered. A quick look at the current state (metrics, alerts) and the reliability of Aerospike clusters and finally in the more exciting part: novel ways that we use aerospike. Everyone can use a database to store data, but Aerospike allows us to handle advanced filtering, fraud detection, bid limiting, velocity and activity tracking in near real time.

Talk 2: Scaling Aerospike: Lessons for Data-Intensive Application Developers by Behrad Babaee
Efficiency and Scalability are the holy grail of software development. As one of the world’s most performant and scalable databases, the Aerospike codebase is a gold mine of valuable lessons for curious software developers. This talk reveals some of these interesting design decisions and patterns.
