Hipp, Hipp hurra! Please join us for our annual Syttende Mai celebration. Enjoy authentic Norwegian food, available for purchase from Viking Soul Food. Free hot dogs and ice cream for the kids provided by the Frida Hansen Daughters of Norway lodge, served from 1-3pm. The Oslo Lounge will be open until 6pm. The DaVinci Middle School marching band will lead our parade starting at 3:30pm. It’s a great day to celebrate our heritage!

If you have kids, this would be a great opportunity to walk with them in a parade that is all about celebrating kids.

The doors open at 1:00 pm. The Daughters of Norway will serve to dogs and ice cream to the kids from 1:00 pm-3:00 pm. Viking Soul Food will make and sell food from 1:00 pm-6:00 pm. The parade will start in front of Norse Hall at 3:00 pm. The Cultural Program starts at 4:00 pm and will feature a few songs by the Portland Nordic Chorus, traditional Nordic music, and, in honor of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Norway, Erik Brakstad will give a talk about the how Norwegian teachers resisted Nazis and Nazi collaborators during World War II. Lessons in traditional Norwegian dances from 5:00 pm-6:00 pm and a dance from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm
