Jurassic World Rebirth is the new chapter in executive producer Steven Spielberg's science fiction thriller saga. It is the standalone sequel to Jurassic World Dominion.
Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali and Jonathan Bailey star in the new picture directed by Gareth Edwards and written by David Koepp.
Koepp co-wrote the original Jurassic Park and wrote its sequel The Lost World: Jurassic Park.
The movie came in well ahead of expectations at the Fourth of July box office to hatch a new era for the Spielberg-created franchise. In North America, the holiday tentpole is reporting an estimated five-day domestic opening of $147.3million, including $91.5million for the three-day weekend.
The film’s global start is already at $318.3million — the second-best launch of the franchise, and the biggest worldwide opening of the year to date, after passing up A Minecraft Movie.
Our story begins thusly: In 2010, a laboratory is used on the island of Ile
Saint-Hubert in the Atlantic Ocean to create transgenetic mutated dinosaurs. One of these creations, a deformed tyrannosaur dubbed "Distortus rex" escapes containment and wreaks havoc, forcing facility personnel to abandon the island. Seventeen years later, the Earth's climate is inhospitable to sustain the dinosaurs. They are forced to live in areas around the equator that resemble the Mesozoic climate.
An expedition is formed to retrieve biomaterial samples from the largest prehistoric specimens that hold the key to a new heart disease treatment. However, the mission of medical advancement must face the wrath of both nature and the unnatural.
Showtime is 4 pm, so let's meet a half hour before then in the lobby to get seats together. After the movie we can grab a bite nearby.
Hope to see you there.
