Oscar season is finally here. And we start off with the fascinating yet terrifying prospect of a Best Actor nomination for The Rock.

Dwayne Johnson stars in The Smashing Machine, a biographical sports drama written, directed, co-produced and edited by Benny Safdie. Johnson stars as former amateur wrestler and MMA fighter Mark Kerr.

Emily Blunt also stars as his wife, Dawn Staples.

The film had its world premiere in the main competition at the Venice International Film Festival earlier this month where it won the Silver Lion.

Safdie won Best Director.

Showtime is 4:30 pm. Let's meet a half hour before then in the seating area near the bar to get seats together. After the show we can grab a bite nearby.
