The Palme d'Or winner at the Cannes Film Festival has finally come to Chicago.

Sebastian Stan and Renate Reinsve star in Fjord, a family drama-thriller that is inspired by actual events. It is a co-production of six European countries--Romania, France, Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.

Fjord is written and directed by Cristian Mungiu.

When a conservative Romanian-Norwegian couple move to the wife's progressive remote hometown in Norway, they fall under intense scrutiny. The story confronts the contradictions of a society that advocates tolerance and openness to others, but that can brutally exclude those who deviate from the path laid out for them

The film had its world premiere in main competition of the Cannes Film Festival in May, where it won five honors including the coveted Palme d'Or.

Fjord has been selected as Romania's entry for Best International Feature Film for this year's Academy Awards.

Please note: The run time for this film is 146 minutes.

Showtime is 2 pm. Let's meet a half hour before then in the lounge to gather before the movie. After the show we can grab a bite nearby.

Hope to see you there.
