The Nine Bridges Walk, 8 miles

We will meet outside the Battersea Power tube station and make our way via Battersea Power shopping centre. We will then carry on by the Thames to Nine Elms passing by he USA Embassy.

  • We will the cross the Vauxhal bridge and carry on via Millbank passing by the Tate Britain and M15 Headquarters.
  • We will then cross the Lambeth bridge and carry on to see St Thomas' Covid memorial, with a view of the Houses of Parliament to our left. We will then cross Westminster bridge and carry to Whitehall Gardens, where we'll take a 20mins break.
  • We will proceed to cross the Jubilee bridge to South bank, and our next bridge to cross will be the Waterloo to see the Somerset House. Then via Temple place to cross the Blackfriars bridge.
  • We will then proceed via South Bank and enter the Tate Modern to see the art installations in Turbine Hall.
  • We will then proceed to cross the Millennium bridge to see the Queenhithe Mosaic, the 30m long timeline depicting the history of London.
  • We will then cross over at Southwark bridge back to South Bank to see the The Golden Hinde (launched 1973), which is a full-size replica of the Golden Hind (launched 1577). Like the original ship, she has also circumnavigated the globe.
  • We will and end our walk at London Bridge.
Options include either exploring the historic Borough Market, or a visit to the George Inn, an authentic 17th-century coaching inn and pub with oak beams and large courtyard seating area.
  • People who decide to get food from the market can always join us later in the pub. Please aim for the upstairs room.
The walk is mainly across the flat terrain, but it's worth to note that it includes numerous stairs when claiming up and down the bridges.
  • Also to note, there are numerous tube tations on route for people who decide to hop off the walk. Nevertheless, everyone who makes it to London bridge gets a star sticker :-)

All walks are free for the NHS staff (also welcome to bring a guest).
