A Midsummer Night's Walk: Chequers and Whiteleaf Sunset

This is a special evening walk from The Plough at the hamlet of Cadsden on Midsummer's Night. We'll walk via the Prime Minister's county residence of Chequers and back through the woods in time for what should be a spectacular Midsummer sunset from the popular, South-West-facing viewpoint of Whiteleaf Hill. The walk is approx. 6 miles and will take about 2.5 hours.

The price for the walk is £2 to cover costs.

After the walk there's the option of staying for a drink and a chat at the Plough at Cadsden, which is where David Cameron famously left his son behind, after a drink with the Chinese Ambassador. We'll take the easy ascent to the famous view from Whiteleaf Hill, before a downhill last 10 minutes back to The Plough.

Food is also available at The Plough, though you may need to book in advance if you want more than snacks. The number for meal bookings is 01844 343 302.

Parking
There is parking in the car park at The Plough.

Please note that this walk is not led by a qualified leader and, as such, isn't covered by insurance. Be sure to wear suitable boots and clothing. The organiser cannot be held responsible for any injuries, however caused. Members are expected to take responsibility for their own preparation and safety including adequate fluids, weather protection and a snack. Please be sure to make me aware if you have any medical conditions.

Dogs are welcome as always but please be mindful to keep them on leads for roads and around other animals. These events are not for children.
