Tuesday Evening Walk to Frithsden Beeches and Berkhamsted Common

Details

This is an enchanting walk of just under 5 miles providing a mixture of woodland paths, wide open fields, country lanes and hillside valley views. Starting from the Alford Arms pub in the hamlet of Frithsden, our route takes out to the vast expanse of Berkhamsted Common, and home via the delights of Frithsden Beeches. Walking time approx. 2 hours.

The price for the walk is £2 to cover costs.

After the walk you're welcome to stay for a chat and/or drink at the Alford Arms, which is also a destination food pub.

The Alford Arms has a wonderful philosophy of children, dogs and muddy boots welcome. You'll find a friendly atmosphere, good local ales, carefully chosen wines and delicious meals. The post code for the pub is HP1 3DD.

Travelling from London / by Train
There is now a new, on-demand bus service called HertsLynx which runs from all three nearby train stations; Berkhamsted, Tring and Hemel Hempstead. Depending on availability, you can book in advance to get from these stations to many of the walk start points for £3 each way.

The HertsLynx app is free and the service stops right outside the Alford Arms (Stop Name: "Frithsden - Alford Arms"). Nearest train station is Berkhamsted.
