Thursday Evening Walk to Coombe Hill and Chequers Estate

Details
This is our first evening walk from this location, The Russell Arms pub at Butlers Cross, to the popular Coombe Hill with it's famous lookout point and monument of the Second Boer War (see gallery). We start by going the easy way up to the monument, with stunning views across the landscape. We then follow the Ridgeway bridleway through the woods, down and across to the Chequers Estate, the Prime Minister's country residence. Distance approx. 5.6 miles. Walking time approx. 2 to 2.5 hours.
The price for the walk is £2 to cover costs.
After the walk there's the option to stay for a drink and a chat in the lovely garden of The Russell Arms (see gallery).
Meeting and Parking
We'll meet outside the car park of the Russell Arms.
