Sunday Walk from Ashridge House to Northchurch Common

Details

This is a beautiful 6 mile forest and plains walk from the historic, 700 year old Ashridge House, beginning along the rural boulevard of Princes Riding, through delightful woodland paths, and also across the expansive plains of Northchurch Common (see gallery). Our route also takes in Thunderdell Lodge, Northchurch Farm and Coldharbour Farm. Walking time approx. 2.5 hours.

The price for the walk is £2 to cover costs.

After the walk you're invited to stay for a chat, drink and food indoors at the Bakehouse Café in the beautiful courtyard of Ashridge House.

Meeting Point and Free Parking
We'll congregate next to the main car park in front of Ashridge House, which is free to park in.

Travelling from London / by Train
There is now a new, on-demand bus service called HertsLynx which runs from all three nearby train stations; Berkhamsted, Tring and Hemel Hempstead. Depending on availability, you can book in advance to get from these stations to many of the walk start points for £3 each way.

The HertsLynx app is free and the service stops 500 metres from Ashridge House (Choose the stop: "Little Gaddesden - Nettleden Rd, opp Car Park"). Nearest train stations are Tring and Berkhamsted.
