Saturday Walk from Tring Park to Wigginton and Hastoe

This is a beautiful route of about 6 miles for a pre-Christmas walk, with stunning views, in particular from the top of Tring Park. We'll walk through it's 'rural boulevard' of trees which overlooks the valley, then on to the village of Wigginton and the hamlet of Hastoe via bridleways, and ending with a glorious view overlooking the town to end as we walk towards it. Meet opposite the entrance to Tring Park Car Park (pictured). Walking time approx. 2.5 hours. After the walk is an optional follow-on Christmas Lunch event at The Akeman.

The price for the walk is £2 to cover costs.

If you wish to you can stay for a festive drink afterwards at The Akeman pub in Akeman Street, or even stay for a Christmas Lunch Meetup. The Akeman is a lovely place with a good atmosphere and the scents of a fire oven cooking pizzas.

Meeting Point and Parking
We'll meet opposite the entrance to Tring Park Car Park. There's also a second free car park on the same lane, Hastoe Lane.

Travelling from London / by Train
There is now a new, on-demand bus service called HertsLynx which runs from all three nearby train stations; Berkhamsted, Tring and Hemel Hempstead. Depending on availability, you can book in advance to get from these stations to many of the walk start points for £3 each way.

The HertsLynx app is free and the service stops in Tring High Street, five minutes walk from the Tring Park Car Park. If you're coming by train please note that Tring Station is two miles away.

Please note that this walk is not led by a qualified leader and, as such, isn't covered by insurance. Be sure to wear suitable boots and clothing. The organiser cannot be held responsible for any injuries, however caused. Members are expected to take responsibility for their own preparation and safety including adequate fluids, weather protection and a snack. Please be sure to make me aware if you have any medical conditions.

Dogs are welcome as always but please be mindful to keep them on leads for roads and around other animals. These events are not for children.
