About the movie:
Another movie from the golden age of Hollywood. Women and Cocaine Presents celebrates the fierce and liberated women of Pre-Code cinema. From the period of 1930 to 1934, before the introduction of censorship, women were depicted in roles with a frankness and sex-positivity that remains rare even today.
This sparkling romantic comedy follows a brash reporter who falls for wealthy heiress Anne Schuyler, played by Jean Harlow. Their whirlwind marriage clashes with Stew’s working-class roots and Anne’s high-society world, leading to hilarious mishaps and heartfelt realisations in this pre-Code classic of love and class.
The screening is part of the Women & Cocaine movie series. The movie will be preceded by a short introduction and followed by a raffle.
