Join us for a festive weekend getaway to Aachen, home to one of Germany’s most enchanting Christmas markets! From Friday evening to Sunday, we’ll soak up the holiday atmosphere, explore the historic city center, and enjoy scenic hikes in the surrounding Eifel region.

We’ll also explore the Aachen Forest and nearby Eifel trails, known for their rolling hills, woodland paths, and panoramic views. Hikes will be moderate in difficulty and suitable for most fitness levels. Bring comfortable walking shoes, warm layers, and a daypack.

Option 1: From Aachen Hauptbahnhof (main station)

1. Go to the bus platforms directly outside the station.
2. Board the Bus 51 (direction: Aachen Waldfriedhof). Or 11
3. Ride for about 10 minutes.
4. Get off at Aachen, Waldfriedhof bus stop.

• Frequency: Line 51 runs regularly throughout the day (hundreds of weekly departures). Also seems to be bus 11
• Ticket: Single ride €2–4; also valid with the Deutschlandticket if you have one.

Option 2: From Aachen Dom / City Center (Bushof or Elisenbrunnen)

1. Walk to Bushof (the central bus station near the Dom).
2. Take Bus 51 towards Waldfriedhof. Or bus 11 would also work
3. Travel time: about 12–15 minutes depending on traffic.
4. Exit at Waldfriedhof stop.

Sundays hike maximum 15km
It’s a scenic loop starting at the Aachen Cathedral (Dom) that quickly leaves the historic city center behind and leads into the surrounding countryside. Expect a mix of urban heritage, quiet forest paths, and open meadows, all within a manageable day hike of about 12–15 km.

• Starting point: Aachen Dom (Cathedral), UNESCO World Heritage site in the city center
• Distance & duration: approx. 12–15 km, 3.5–4.5 hours walking
• Difficulty: Easy to moderate – mostly flat with gentle climbs

Afterwards maybe some more Christmas market and maybee the famous thermen !
