"The Future of Creativity" w/ Will Butler
Details
Ok, so this is going to be awesome. Let's talk about the future of creativity.
We live in a world with challenges at scales and of complexities and interdependencies never before faced by humanity, from climate change to a global economic crisis, from wars and genocide to AI alignment, from synthetic biology to economic inequity, and from misinformation to political fractioning and corruption. There are infinitely bright possible futures ahead of us, as well as high probabilities of almost unthinkable darkness and collapse.
To navigate to where we want to go next, we need a profound reimagining of our world. This is part of the Speculative Design work that we love, but it is not just an act of thought. It is also the creative actions of building and persistence over time to bring these new possible futures into being.
Today we are really honored to have American musician, multi-insturmentalist, and composer Will Butler with us to talk about the Future of Creativity. In conversation with J. Paul Neeley, we will explore Will's work and creative practice, and we will dig into his music making, and perspectives on collaboration, on productivity, on new technology, on overcoming challenges, and on the future. You'll leave with insights from Will's thinking and work that can inspire us in all of our creative domains of action and problem solving.
Come explore the future of creativity with us!
At the end of the conversation we will take some questions from the audience.
