Aspects of the Feminine - Archetypal Psychology
Details
What we refer to as the feminine is not a single facet of the soul, rather it is comprised of many aspects. In Greco-Romana mythology, there are many goddesses, each with her own domain and sphere of influence. The well-known goddesses include Gaia, goddess of the earth; Hera, the queen of the gods; the beautiful Aphrodite, the goddess of love and the wise Athena. These goddesses reflect such aspects of the feminine as the mother, the wife, the lover and the sophisticate.
Other, lesser-known goddesses are Persephone, the queen of the underworld; Vesta, the keeper of the sacred fire; Eris the goddess of strife and Hecate, the goddess of spells and witchcraft. Here we meet the intuitive, healing, disruptive and darker faces of the feminine.
Generally, we tend to favour one or two aspects of the feminine. The archetypes that we develop will bless us with their powers. Conversely, the archetypes that we deny and leave undeveloped may become problematic – we are cursed by the goddesses we ignore until we make amends.
In this session, we will explore the various facets of the archetypal feminine, understand the demands and the gifts of each, as well as the negative face of each (which is experienced when the archetype is neglected).
As Jung explained, we are each comprised of masculine and feminine traits. While this session would appear to be of more relevance to women, it will also be of interest to men who seek a better understanding of the women in their life as well as aspects of their interior being that modern times have invited them to explore.
