Citizen Science from your back garden - Helping professional astronomers with amateur equipment (Dr Trevor Gainey, Reading/Basingstoke Astronomical Societies)
Trevor has a background as a Physicist but after a career in the electronics industry is now a Management Consultant. He includes astronomy amongst his hobbies and when not taking photographs of astronomical objects for fun he is also involved in various citizen science projects helping future space missions.
Trevor will describe three of these projects that include tracking "space junk" in low Earth orbit with a simple DSLR, observing geostationary satellite manoeuvres and observing exoplanets transit their host star from his home observatory in South Reading.
