The solar material of the future? Breaking the efficiency glass celling with perovskite solar cells! (Akash Dasgupta – University of Oxford)

Solar power is a key player in the push for renewable energy, but what if we could make it even more efficient and accessible? Enter perovskite solar cells—a breakthrough technology that could surpass the limits of traditional silicon panels. In this talk, we’ll explore what makes perovskites unique, why they’re ideal for so called ‘tandem solar cell’ implementations, and how they could drive the next big leap in solar efficiency helping us harness the sun’s energy more efficiently than ever before. Whether you’re a renewable energy enthusiast or just curious about the future, join us to discover how perovskites could reshape the world of solar power.

Akash Dasgupta is a final year PhD student at the University of Oxford, researching the scalability of perovskite solar technology. He is under the supervision of Professor Henry Snaith, a leading figure in the field and the father of the perovskite solar cell. Akash did his undergraduate studies in the University of Bristol, with a year in industry at the central laser facility, and has completed a reperch project at the University of Washington as part of his PhD.
