Cults, deception and bad science

A religious sect can be described as a cult for doctrinal beliefs, sociological factors, or both. We will discuss both but focus on the sociological factors where the discussion also encompasses non-religious organization/groups that exhibit cult-like behavior. We will also talk about deception in general and how bad science is often used in deceiving people, such as medical quackery or bogus philosophical ideas.
Where: Bel Air Church, 16221 Mulholland Dr., L.A. Room DC102. When you enter the main patio level, one level up from the parking lots, the church entrance will be on your right and the classroom building on the left.
Parking: Park in one of the lower lots on either side of Mulholland just before the church. Walk or take a shuttle bus up the driveway to the main patio level. For handicapped parking, take the church driveway just after the lower parking lot and go up the hill to the top parking lot.
