How Markets Really Work - Interactive Introduction to Experimental Economics

Details

The experiment is the hallmark of the scientific method, regardless of the subject at hand. Contrary to conventional wisdom, experiments are not only possible in economics, but many are easy to conduct. That's what we will do in this seminar.

The most prominent pioneer of experimental economics, Vernon Smith, was awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in 2002. Yet standard textbooks ignore the experimental evidence entirely, and most economists are unaware of it. Does it shed too bright a light on orthodox economic theory? After this seminar, you will be in a better position to judge for yourself.

No prior knowledge is required, but if you'd like to inform yourself in advance, you can watch this video or read this article.

This meetup is free of charge and purely non-profit. For obvious reasons, however, everyone must order a drink.
