How do you measure the size of Earth without satellite technology or circling the globe yourself? More than 2,200 years ago, the philosopher/scientist Eratosthenes did just that. This presentation discusses Eratosthenes' method of calculation of Earth's circumference as well as his life and times, and students will gain not only insight into Eratosthenes' discovery but also the scientific and mathematical developments connected to the famed Library of Alexandria.
