Everglades Restoration Seminar at USF Sarasota-Manatee campus

Details

Our seminar speaker for this event will be Dr. Steve Davis, who is the Chief Science Officer for Everglades Foundation. Dr. Davis leads the effort on advancing Everglades restoration, tracking ecosystem health, and understanding the impacts of sea-level rise. Everglades restoration is a $25 billion water infrastructure program overseen by the South Florida Water Management District and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP) of 2000 serves as the guide for restoration and includes water storage, treatment, and conveyance projects that will improve water quality, flows, and aquatic habitats throughout South Florida. This presentation will encompass the history of Everglades drainage, the motivation and goals for Everglades restoration, progress in project planning and implementation, and the resilience-building benefits that restoration provides. Join us for this exciting in person event at the USF Sarasota Manatee campus!

Beer and wine will be available for purchase at the event and pizza will be available for purchase for those who pre-register!
