Altered Carbon 🧬 by Richard Morgan - Book discussion
Details
**Meeting time updated to March 26**
This year we are reading SciFi from around the world! We’ve moved from Canada to Argentina, and now for our next book we’re heading to the United Kingdom.
Published in 2002, Altered Carbon by British author Richard K. Morgan drops us into a cyberpunk world where human consciousness can be digitized and transferred between bodies (“sleeves”). The wealthy can live for centuries. Everyone else? Replaceable. When former soldier Takeshi Kovacs is brought back into a new body to investigate a powerful man’s mysterious death, he’s pulled into a world of corporate power, virtual realities, and moral decay. Winner of the 2003 Philip K. Dick Award and later adapted into a Netflix series (2018).
