Do you prefer to read the same type of fiction you write?

Oh yes, definitely. I read a lot of sci-fi, fantasy, and horror, and that's what comes right back out of me. (Guess it's sort of like that old computer phrase, Garbage In, Garbage Out!) My favorites include Stephen King, H.P. Lovecraft, Tolkien, and all the old Golden Age sci-fi guys from the fifties, sixties, and forties.

Well, my name is William A. Hainline, but I go by what my middle initial stands for -- Andy. I write science fiction, horror, and fantasy, and that weird genre that melts all three together. I'm working on rewriting my first novel.

What William H. is saying about this Meetup Group

It really helps your writing to sit and read it aloud to others, because you spot so many inconsistencies and errors, and things that need changing. Also, the reviews and feedback from the other members are a good mix of encouraging and critical. It's like having ten other pairs of eyes to help you spot things, and maybe comment on things you yourself never saw, or perhaps could not see.
