What could an ML-first design approach look like?
Details
Tonight we'll be hearing from Gordon Guthrie on "What could an ML-first design approach look like?":
"There is an expectation that almost any computer system built at scale will be enhanced.
The normal process is to build something, let data scientists loose on the data model and then try to find ways to do things better using ML.
What could an ML-first design approach look like?"
For our second talk Mike Moran (one of the co-hosts of this Meetup) will be leading a discussion on "having a tech career: surviving tech change". This will go over some techniques that Mike has found useful in his career so far and how they might be applicable to the domain of ML.
We will be generously hosted this evening by Skyscanner in their Quartermile office in Edinburgh. Note: see end for details of signing-in.
Plan for the night:
- 18:30: doors open, get some food/drinks
- 19:00: Quick overall intro then First Talk + Q/A
- 19:30: Short toilet / refreshment break
- 19:35: Second Talk
- 20:00: Any announcements from community or more general stuff
- 20:15: Adjourn to Doctors Pub for more ad-hoc discussions
Note that Skyscanner requires a "Sign in Sheet" to be signed, with the header below. You'll still need to sign-in on entry, but to save time, and for your convenience, I will be pre-filling names on the sheet, based on who has RSVP'd by 12:00 on the day. You can still come along after this, but you'll then need to add your name to the list yourself.
