We start at West Parliament Square, opposite the David hume Statue, at the entrance to St Giles, and walk though Town exploring Scotland's Enlightenment History visiting statues and places, some of which you may not be familiar with, ending up at the Calton Hill.

It's good history, but fairly lite on the academic stuff and funny at times with a lot of attention to the personalities of the characters involved.

This Event is free - make a contribution at the end if you like the Tour, it's totally up to you.

The Tour takes around two hours. You can ask questions along the way and I will try to answer them if I can.

You'll need to have a reasonable degree of fitness, especially for the ascent of Calton Hill. Dress for the weather and wear a good pair of trainers or walking boots. Bring a brolly or waterproof coat or both - sunglasses too - you're in Scotland!

Also, go easy on the coffee before leaving. Make sure you are well toileted before we start as there are no places to stop on the 2 hour Tour until we reach Calton Hill when the tour finishes.
