About us
Hi there! Welcome to the group :-) This group is part of Scottish Hillwalking & Activities Group - for walking/hillwalking events. The other part of the group is for climbing events and if you're interested in that, please join https://www.meetup.com/scottish-hillwalkers/
We're a friendly group that was founded in 2008 to be run by the members for the members. We encourage members to "own the group" and help keep the page active by hosting events, but there is definitely no requirement to do so.
We organise a wide range of walks year round including single Munros, multiple Munros, scrambling over ridges, weekends away and a selection of low level longer walks, pub walks and summer evening walks..
These shouldn't be considered "led walks" with a professional guide. Think of it more as going walking with a group of friends (and while you may not be friends with everyone at the start of the walk, you will be by the end of it!). However, everyone has to take responsibility for themselves as well as for each other, and everyone has a role to play (be it offering lifts to the start, helping with the navigation on the walk or bringing the jaffa cakes!)
The organiser of a walk or event is the point of contact for the walk. Organisers do not lead walks and are not responsible for others or instructing them. Organisers are volunteers who are sharing their own experience with others, so those of lesser experience should be aware of this.
The group is completely free to join, but we may occasionally ask for a voluntary £3 donation to help cover the cost of hosting the group on Meetup.com.

Moderate: Nine Mile Burn Circuit,Pentlands
Nine Mile Burn, Nile Mile Burn (off A702), Nr Penicuik, GBA route from Nine Mile Burn at the quieter Western end of the Pentland Hills taking in Green Law and Spittal Hill.Good viewpoint looking over to the other hills in the area.

Trail walking for most of the route with gradual ascent to the summits of the various hills.

CLOTHING & EQUIPMENT

Moderate: Cruach an t-Sidhein, Glen Douglas
The Inn on Loch Lomond, formerly Inverbeg Hotel, A82 Loch Lomond, GBA moderate, quite straightforward walk to the top of Cruach an t-Sidhein, the most remote of the Luss grahams. Its quite a surreal start past MOD fencing into attractive Cona Ghlean and nice views of the other Luss hills and to the arrochar alps.

We can then convoy/car share 4km down Glen Douglas to the walk start, just before Tullich farm. Planning a coffee after walk in the Inn.Dog friendly.
TERRAIN
Quite steep for 100m ascent then easier into Cona ghlean. Pathless heathery terrain for 1km onto a broad grassy ridge to summit and same way back.ROUTE

Easy: Dean Castle Country Park,Kilmarnock
Dean Castle Country Park, KA3 1XB, kilmarnock, GBSituated in Kilmarnock the castle and its surrounding country park is a delightful day out.The castle has an excellent display of medieval weaponry and historical features relating to the castle(also of interest it featured in an episode of Outlander).We will also do a route called the Countryside trail round the park .Theres a cafe at the car park where we can enjoy a tea/coffee after the walk.
TERRAINTrail walking along the Countryside trail well signposted.Couple of sections where there's an incline to go up but they're short distances.See map details on the link below for route.
