Ullapool: Am Faochagach

Details

A straightforward ascent of on e of the less distinguished Munros situated in the moorlands north of Loch Glascarnoch. The ascent gives a fairly short day, with superb views in good conditions.

TERRAIN
Section of boggy moorland, a river crossing and hill paths.

ROUTE
https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/ullapool/amfaochagach.shtml

The route initially crosses boggy moorland before reaching the Abhainn a'Ghrabainn, a broad but shallow river that requires wading. The path then becomes clearer as it leads up to the east of the Allt na h-Uidhe; after a boggy start it even becomes drier for a time, passing a fine small waterfall. After reaching the upper level of the corrie the path diverges from the burn and ascends more steeply, aiming for the bealach north of Sàil Liath. From there the route follows a gentle ridge which provides views across the neighbouring hills. Return is by reverse of route.

Please note if there has been high rainfall the river may not be passable, in that case I will look to put on an alternative walk.
