Beinn Mhor (Cowal) - Moderate/Hard
Details
The highest peak in Cowal (741 metres) offers wonderful views of Loch Eck, the Clyde Estuary and north and west over Argyll and the islands.
## Details
Despite (only) being a Graham, Beinn Mhor has a prominance of 696m (61st in British Isles) making for a proper mountain experience. This route ascends from the car park of Benmore Botanic Garden, with a track leading up to the steep grassy slopes of A' Cruach and the secondary tops of Creachan Beag and Creachan Mòr to a wide shoulder leading to the summit of Beinn Mhòr itself.
TERRAIN
Initial forest road on approach soon becoming pathless on grassy then heather terrain.
ROUTE
This is an alternative, and more interesting, to the regular climb from Glen Massan.
The route initially follows a forest road before climbing steep grass and heather slopes. The route may be wet or boggy in places. No clear path once clear of the forestry.
