A new type of walk - ambles, slow pace, a chilled out walk, short walk, not too far, not too high.

I have changed this walk to a closer-by walk with much less travelling!

Walk Details
The steep grassy dome of Duncolm rises above the moors as the highest point of the Kilpatrick Hills. Although close to Glasgow it feels like a wild place and is a popular objective. This route from Old Kilpatrick is easily reached by public transport; the return given is via the Slacks which has superb views over the city.

There are cafes in Kilpatrick for before and after the walk.

Summary
• Grade: Moderate
• Time: 4.5 hours walk / 1 hour travelling
• Distance: 15km / 9.25 miles
• Ascent: 490 metres

SUITABILITY/PARTICIPATION STATEMENT
You are responsible for deciding if this event is suitable for you, coming adequately prepared and looking after yourself on the walk. If there are any questions about suitability, please contact the organiser.

The Scottish Hillwalking and Activities Group recognises that hill walking, scrambling and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement.

PACE
We will walk as a group at a slow, easy pace.

CLOTHING & EQUIPMENT
Please ensure that you come adequately prepared for this walk, with, at a minimum, boots, waterproofs, and food and water.

WEATHER FORECAST
Please make sure you check the weather forecast before you come:
Please remember to check the website the night before the walk - if the weather forecast is very bad we may change or cancel the walk, or move it to a different day.

LIFTS/MEETUP TIME
The Meetup location is the Kilpatrick Braes parking area at 10:30 am. This can be reached either by car or by a short walk from Kilpatrick station. I'll be travelling by train from Glasgow.

RSVPs
• Yes: You intend to come and will turn up.
If you can't make it, change your RSVP to NO to allow someone else to take your place.
Do ensure you give adequate warning if you decide not to come on the walk.

GROUP ETHOS
Please remember the organiser is not the leader of the walk - we walk AS A GROUP. If you don't like the sound of that, perhaps this walk is not for you :-)

Be considerate:
Follow the Scottish Outdoor Access Code https://www.outdooraccess-scotland.scot/. Be aware of farm animals, wildlife and nesting birds, keep all your litter and #TakitHame.

If you are unwell or have a cold/flu, please don't come on the walk. The hills will always be there and we will see you next time.
