Deciding against lunch, the party bravely sallies forth! They go back to the throne and scepter and crown to try to see if there is any value to them. A little messing around with Summon Monster 1 spells and they determine that the scepter and crown have magical properties: Putting on the crown causes you to be able to see in the darkened throne room as if it was in broad daylight. However, putting the crown on makes the wearer unable to take it off. Touching the gold end to the gold crown allows the wearer to remove the crown, but touching the silver end to the crown causes the wearer to turn into a fetid pile of powder. Not recoverable even with a wish! "What happens if the crown is put on Acererak and the silver knob is touched to it?" the party asked itself. So they are now seeking the Big "A" to find out.
Searching the area they found a secret door behind the throne and opening it led to a set of steps of semi-precious stones. Cleverly avoiding that trap, Bongo set off another one (blood pouring endlessly from the cut and filling the room) by trying to cut the Mithral valves at the top of the steps. In his defense, the doors we made of solid Mithril - a fortune worth several medium sized kingdoms (he IS a thief after all).
Quickly opening the door and running inside they decided to pause here...
