Unspoken Bonds explores the deep, silent relationships between women, with a focus on the maternal ties that shape us. These ties are felt, experienced within a somatic knowing. The love that a mother devotes is expressed in an unspoken labour of love, care and sacrifice that exists in the spaces between presence and absence, in what is given, held, and remembered.

Many of the artists in this collection work with clay, which contains memory within its materiality. Clay reflects unspoken connection in its ability to be a malleable material that allows the artist to create a final form. In Unspoken Bonds, material becomes a vessel for the unseen—the gestures, the weight of devotion, and the enduring presence of connection that lingers as a legacy of love.
