Screenwriting Tribe 7P.M./May 19th EVENING on ZOOM up to 4 sets of pages

Details

PARTICIPANTS: READ:

• Tribe is writers and actors helping writers to polish their screenplays.

• Diversity of ages, life experiences, voices, and spectrums of humanity are helpful to have in the workshop.

👉 If you RSVP, but can't attend:
👉 Cancel your RSVP ASAP. You do so on this MeetUp page. It prevents writers from depending on you being there to read roles.

👉🏽 To sign up for pages:
👉🏽 First RSVP. Don't sign up for pages without an RSVP.

👉🏻 If you signed up for pages and changed your mind:
👉🏻 DELETE your pages comment AND leave a post "Canceling pages."
👉🏻 Give another writer time to prepare pages.

• Canceling pages does not cancel your RSVP.
If you aren't going to attend, please: ALSO cancel your RSVP so writers aren't depending on you to read roles.

• BEFORE you sign up for pages: A, B, C, D...

A • Participate in the workshop at least 3 times.

B • OWN and study the three books:

  1. Screenplay Repair Manual
  2. The Screenwriter's Bible
  3. Dr. Format Tells All
👉🏽**If you don't own the books, don't sign up for pages.**👈🏼
It's helpful to ALSO read a few books about TV writing, so you get various opinions.

C • Have an RSVP.

D • Be one of the first 4 to sign up for pages.

• We workshop features, short films, and episodic, anthology, limited/mini series, and serial series scripts.

• We also workshop single-cam (non-audience) sit-com scripts.

• WE DO NOT WORKSHOP MULTI-CAM (audience) SIT-COM, SOAP OPERA, MUSICAL, NC-17, OR X SCRIPTS.

• Format scripts in 12 point Courier font.

• Take one script through the workshop at a time, from the first page to "The End."

• Own the material in the script. No plagiarism. It has to be something you can copyright. (No lyrics, poetry, book excerpts, life stories, or other material to which you do not own the rights.)

• The workshop is as good as the participants make it.

The workshop is $5 per person. The goal is to cover expenses. I t's not a money-making venture.
• Use credit or debit on the MeetUp page when you RSVP.
• Or access:
https://secure.meetup.com/Screenwriting-Tribe/contribute/
• If you use a smart phone, sign into MeetUp (email + password). That takes you to the pay page. It's PayPal. NOT Facebook, Google, or Apple.

👉🏽Aim to write engaging scripts with broad market, investor, and distributor appeal, and that would advance the careers of actors, directors, and producers.👈🏼

To sign up for pages: 1, 2, 3.

  1. RSVP.
  2. After RSVPing, type “pages” in the comments section.

Email not more than 12 pages as a PDF to John = FilmMimic at AOL.

We read the pages out loud as they are scrolled on screen.

We give verbal feedback after each set of pages.

As a writer receives feedback, they are to be silent, even if asked questions. Listen. Take notes. It's not a time to explain, or get defensive. Feedback you consider "wrong" could give you some excellent ideas. Welcome it.

Sometimes attend when your pages aren't being read. That will build your skills in unexpected ways.

  1. Be there for the entire workshop to help each other.

If you are not of the first 4 signing up for pages, you can type "backup pages" as a comment – in case anyone cancels.

After you workshop 12 pages – before you bring in the next 12 – READ THE ENTIRE SCRIPT to give it a wave of polish.

If you only have a few pages remaining unworkshopped, still bring in 12 pages = the remaining pages + pages before it = re-workshopping some of the previous pages.

Each script is the intellectual property of the writer.

“If you’re not early, you’re late.” – John Ritter
