LUAU with the Dillos and Rebels at Wheeler Branch Reservoir Park, Glen Rose

Details
You don't want to miss out on the Scubadillo Luau. Join us June 7 for fun and games, laughter, sunshine, camaraderie, prizes and FOOD!
Diving you ask? Of course you can dive, but it’s not required.
This annual funfest – a combo Scubadillo and Diving Rebels event – is a day to get out of the house, enjoy some games in the water and on land, eat, party and hang with your favorite fun divers. You don't want to miss it! It's also our annual fundraiser. Members and non-members will need a ticket.
WHERE
Wheeler Branch Reservoir Park in Glen Rose. This scenic lake park is the ideal venue for swimming, diving, dry land games and water games (for prizes!). We will have a raffle, a silent auction -- and of course, our Luau feast, featuring pulled pork.. We'll be at the pavilion. Look for the Scubadillos bright yellow banners.
GET YOUR TICKETS
This is our fundraiser, so everyone pays the same, member or not. Buy your tickets at Luau 2025 by end of day Thursday, June 5 $10.30 each. You may pay $10 in cash or credit at our June 5 meeting. Tickets can be purchased at the event for $15.
PARK FEE
Park entrance fee is $10 per person. Cash only. (This is separate from the Luau ticket.) Overnight camping is not allowed. Pets are allowed in the park, but must be on a short leash (6 ft. or less) and you have to pick up any deposits. You'll find nice, clean bathrooms on site.
WHAT TO BRING
- Side dish to share (please tell us what you'll bring)
- Folding chairs
- Sunshades, sunblock, hats, etc.
- Beverage of choice (be discreet if you have adult beverages)
- Swimsuits, towels and dive gear (for optional lake dive)
- Afternoon munchies to tide you over (Luau feast starts at 1 p.m.)
- Cash for raffle and silent auction ($1, $5, $10, $20 bills)
- Old neoprene -- wetsuits, hoods, gloves -- for our recycle campaign
DIVING
The lake has a dive platform, a sunken bus and helicopter, and lots of fish! Might be chilly; 5 mil suit recommended. Be sure to arrive early (approx 11 a.m.) if you intend to dive. Expect low 70s on the surface at this time of year and colder past the various thermoclines as the lake can get past 60 feet for true deep dives. Bring proper hoods, gloves and lights if you go this deep as it is a night dive at this depth – but the water gets clearer! Diving begins in the morning or when you arrive.
CHOW DOWN!
The Luau Feast begins at 1 p.m.-ish. We'll have pulled pork. Bring a side dish to share. To avoid eight tubs of potato salad, please let us know what you're bringing. Use this food sign-up sheet here.
This also helps us know how many folks are coming so we can have enough meat.
RAFFLE
Bring plenty of cash (or use your CC) for the raffle to win great prizes.
SILENT AUCTION
Get some dive gear at a super great price! Buy a gift basket full of fun items. Spend some money to help support the club.
LET THE GAMES BEGIN!
We’ll start the games around 3:30. Horseshoes, batting, water balloon toss and water cup toss, along with water cannons and water bucket competitions for two-person teams. Prizes will be awarded! Bring your Frisbees, if you like. This is a family-friendly event. Kids are welcome to participate.
It’s a Luau! Feel free to dress up in your favorite tropical attire!
