Mt. Waterman via Upper West Ridge
Details
This is a 6 mile out-and-back hike rated as difficult/challenging and is recommended for experienced hikers who are comfortable with steep terrain and elevation gain.
We will begin from Angeles Crest Highway and follow the trail toward Mount Waterman. The route features a steady climb through a beautiful pine forest with several scenic viewpoints along the way. At the summit, you'll find a USGS marker mounted on a rock.
Please note that some sections of the trail are very steep and covered with loose dirt and rocks. Hiking poles are strongly recommended for added stability. We will be hiking at a slower, comfortable pace, particularly on the steep uphill and downhill sections. Be sure to wear appropriate hiking footwear and use caution in these areas.
I also recommend downloading the trail map for offline use before the hike, as cell service can be limited or unavailable in this area.
