Volunteer morning at Second Harvest of Santa Cruz County!

Hello Friends,

Join me at Second Harvest of Santa Cruz County Food Bank in Watsonville for a "Food Pack and Sort". This is a great way to help provide nutritious food to our amazing community, and have fun alongside your friends.

Here's what you can expect:

You’ll be working together on an assembly line: sorting fresh produce and dry goods and packing them into bags and boxes of food to be distributed to Second Harvest partner agencies and clients.

As far as physical restrictions: the shift is typically done standing and there will be lifting that includes stacking and re-stacking produce bags and dry goods boxes, up to 25 lbs. Second Harvest can generally work to provide alternative work if they know ahead of time what kind of accommodations you may need.

Close-toed shoes are required inside the warehouse. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing, dressing in layers, and bringing a water bottle.

Parking is available in the gravel lot adjacent to the main building (next to the gas station on W. Beach St) or along Ohlone Parkway.

The hours are from 9 am to noon with lunch that will be provided. (More details to come). I am sure there will be instructions on any dietary restrictions, etc.

Please sign up online, (see below), if you will be volunteering. This needs to be done in advance of coming to the event and late cancelations will be problematic so please only sign up if you are confident you can attend.
