Meetup Schedule for November 12th, 20151

------------------------

You know what I'm thankful for? Our Advanced WordPress (AWP) Meetup. I have made such great connections and learned so much since it started. For this month's meetup we're going to have a ton of FUN! Sorry, no Turkey though.

But first, if you have never been to one of our meetups before here's a little bit of what to expect:

The AWP meetup is not a traditional, go sit and listen, style meetup. We run an interactive round-table type forum where conversation (WordPress-related of course) is encouraged. Each person who chooses will get a chance to share their code, cool plugins, themes, or anything more advanced that's WordPress related to the crowd and speak about advanced WordPress topics. We will have pizza, soda and beer.

It's a good idea to bring a laptop so you can share your code, write notes, save links, etc. during the meetup. Make sure to bring a cable if you don't have an HDMI connection.

6:00 - 6:25 Pre-meeting Networking

The meet up doesn't 'officially' kick-off until 6:30ish. Please try to get here during the half-hour before so you can mingle, network and hang out with fellow AWPers. We understand people have a hard time getting downtown so there's a slight buffer. During this time we will start to pass around the sign up list for those looking to share if we don't get enough people signed up beforehand.

6:30 - 6:45 Hellos, Heys and Introductions

Introduce yourself to the group, don't be shy, we are a friendly bunch. Please tell us your name and what you do, and your experience with WordPress. More time is given for new attendees to share their experience. Have you written a plugin or theme? Maybe you're a blogger or business owner that uses WordPress. That's great! What you looking to get out of the meetup?

6:45 - 7:00 What's in the WP News?

WordPress news roundup. In this time we'll talk about what's happened since our last meeting in the WordPress world. There's always so much going on... this is a brief run through of some of interesting and discussed topics on the AWP facebook group.

  • See note about WordCamp US below*

Please feel free to add any news you'd like to share or have seen in the AWP group or online.

7:00 - 7:30 - The first ever AWP TriviaPress - How well do you know WordPress?

Know Jeopardy? Yep, that game show with the man with the furry mustache. This is Jeopardy, the WordPress version. How it works:

  • We will have two Jeopardy rounds with varying categories

  • Questions will get progressively more advanced

  • Everyone will have a chance to answer, I'm still figuring out the best way for people to buzz in - so if you have an idea let me know!

  • Everyone loves prizes! The winner(s) will get a prize!

7:30 - 8:30 - Round table forum: Whoever signs up gets a chance to share their WordPress-related code, thoughts, theme, plugins. We will split up the time evenly between participants. Please respect the speaker, but feel free to comment and ask questions. It's an open forum. Time slots will be dependent on the number of people who sign up.

Slot 1 - Matt Cromwell - Custom RSS Feeds in WordPress

Slot 2 - Kim Espinoza - Presenting on Bugherd

Slot 3 - Open

Slot 4 - Open

Slot 5 - Open

Please email me if you would like a list

8:30 - 8:45 - Closing remarks and networking time
