Service Safari Phase 2 Research Synthesis Discord Party!

We went for a walk. We observed. We took notes. Now, let’s connect the dots!

On October 24, Service Design Drinks Toronto ventured into the Vale of Avoca Ravine for a Service Safari, exploring how people access, navigate, understand and experience Toronto’s ravines.

It’s now time to bring our observations together and see what stories emerge.

Join us online for Part 2 of our Service Safari : https://discord.gg/4e58aSxhZ

We're planning a collaborative research synthesis session where we’ll share field notes, compare perspectives and start making sense of what we discovered.

  • Share observations, photos and reflections from the ravine
  • Uncover themes, patterns, tensions, contradictions and surprises
  • Explore what our observations might mean for the people and ecosystems that share this space
  • Identify gaps in our understanding and questions worth investigating further
  • Begin connecting our observations to emerging insights and opportunities.

We’ll use FigJam as our shared workspace and meet through SDD’s Discord channel.

Who should join?
Open to all, as always. You will most likely have been a part of our original park walk at Vale of Avoca Ravine but can also just be curious about applying service design to public spaces! Come ready to share ideas, challenge assumptions, and collaborate with fellow design enthusiasts.

If you missed the walk, you’re welcome to visit the Vale of Avoca independently, use our field guide and contribute your observations. Our Service Safari Field Guide is available to you, feel free to take a peek or go for a walk in the Ravine and add to it.

If you joined our Service Safari or have observations, photographs or research you’d like to contribute, we’d love to include them!
We’ll share access to our collaborative research folder with participants ahead of the session. You can also bring your observations directly to our November 7 gathering.

No previous experience with research synthesis or FigJam is required.

### What's next

This is part of a little community-led service design experiment. We’re exploring the possibility of bringing our collective research together into a field observation report on the Vale of Avoca.

On November 14, we’ll meet in person to build on our findings, map experiences and explore opportunity areas.

But first, let’s see what our observations tell us.

Come curious, bring your perspective, and let’s connect some dots :)
